A Little Problem

Our camera is failing fast.
so Mike's and Emma's birthday was photot free.
So to was Easter So there will be very little in Photos for a while.

Feburary Storms

And they keep coming!
yes our area hasn't seen the last of the snow for the winter....
Tuesday Feb 2 2010 A light snow was to come through the area total snow fell.... 10 inches.

Saturday Feb 6 2010 The first big storm hit leaving additional  18 inches.

Oh dear we lost power! 40 hour of no electric which included heat. we woke up to a home inside temp of 56f. the next morning it was 41f. how does that feel? COLD.

but we survived and we got power back that 2ND day at 5pm. but it took another 24 hours until we were warm enough.

All our 72hour training from the church really helped. it was a bit like camping!!!! in the snow.

OK now that we have power....

Tuesday Feb 9 2010 2nd big storm hit the area. Adding 18 more inches to the totals. but this time we were lucky and had power and warmth. This time the snow was just too deep to do anything even walking was not possible as the snow reach emma's top of thighs. as for the roads... full-size tractors and dump truck were brought into the area to clear them. there was not space to plow the snow too.
School was cancelled too. but so too was Mike's work so it was a great inside holiday for us. just a little problem of cabin fever to deal with!
Do we have photos form the second big storm... sorry no. it was just too deep and cold to go outside. also there were not so pleasent side-effect of living in a cold apartment for 40 hours- SICKNESS.

Pinewood Derby

So for cub scout each year they have a car race. the 'boys' build their cars and have a race day.
Last year was our first and our car came in last place. So this year we were determined to do better. We got books and hunted on the Internet for tips to make our car go faster.

How did we do?...... we won all but one race, making our car the fastest one there!!!!!! ( the race we lost was on a bad track!)

Oh course. tom being Tom it had to have a gun on it!, even if the race was held at the chapel.

For those who have ask if mike was 'willing' to wear the cub scout leader uniform.

Tom's 9th Birthday

Yes  my little boy is now 9 and not so little.
for one thing he can and does now out eat me! at meal time and still be hungry an hour later.

Also he is shooting up really really quickly too, so it will not be long until he is taller than me!

And he got big boy toys too......

when friends have a big gun, you just goto have one too.

Day after Christmas Day

Normally this is a day that many people get out of the house for, after spending all yesterday inside.
But for us, well that really wasn't possible with 1 1/2 feet of snow still on the ground.
So what did we do.....

We Played snow ball dodging on the Wii

we all had a go.. even Ashton. but he still didn't like the warm verson of it.

Christmas 2009

We had a great Christmas this year.

Tom has been the hardest to buy for as he is now almost 9 and not into little boy toys anymore so this year we brought a Wii! for Him.

 he also had a few other things!

including a BIG bag of pistachio nuts

Ashton didn't get left out, he got.........wait for it........ PIRATES

His very own pirate model boat, to go on the shelve with Dad's figures!

And of course he had to paint it with Dad's help... that day!

The question I hear you ask is what did Mom do while the boys were having all the fun painting with Dad?

she had fun with her favorite thing... electronics!!!!

Merry White Christmas

I would not like to meet the person who wished for a white Christmas this year.
Because we got one 6 days before Christmas day. But not to worry it will not melt as we got 17 inches of the white stuff...

Our area has this thing, we see about 2-6 inches total of snow each winter, in about 2-3 storms so this was unusual for this area and as this place has a habit of shutting down for 1 inch of snow, you can guess what it is like now we have 17 inches of the stuff. but we had fun anyway!

The cars need to be dug out too!!!!!

We tried to go sledding but it was too deep and soft for it..

But great for Tom's snow fort.

 

Not so great for Ashton to walk in!!
